UncategorizedWorkplace Harassment Policies in the Spotlight as EEOC Hosts Public Forum

October 31, 2018by admin

On Wednesday, October 31, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission held a public meeting in Washington D.C. to discuss steps to transform workplace culture to prevent harassment. This public meeting was held in response to the #MeToo movement and a 2018 report that indicated increases in harassment charges and litigation. In the past year alone, sexual harassment in the workplace has been in the spotlight of many news stories and reports. Employers should have clearly defined policies and procedures regarding workplace harassment to prevent misconduct.
Employers must take action to ensure that their policies align with the most recent changes in employment law, requiring employers to have a written policy in place. Tristan & Cervantes has assisted clients in composing and implementing sound policies and in providing training to employees to ensure that complaints are handled properly.
Tristan & Cervantes will be holding a free workplace and sexual harassment training for employers and human resources professionals at our office this winter. If you or your business need an updated employee handbook or updated harassment policy, please contact our office at info@tristanlegal.com or call us at 312.345.9200.
